Goal:  The middle school Math course is designed to expose all students to the 6th grade Georgia Standards of Excellence, and to prepare the students for the End of Grade assessment, the Georgia Milestones, which will be administered in the spring 2018.

Content:                                                                                                                

Unit 1: Number System Fluency                                                      

Unit 2: Rate, Ratio and Proportional Reasoning Using Equivalent Fractions

Unit 3: Expressions                                                                                                                                                                            

Unit 4: One-Step Equations and Inequalities

Unit 5: Area and Volume

Unit 6: Statistics

Unit 7: Rational Explorations: Numbers and their Opposites

Classwork/homework: Students must use a PENCIL for all assignments and assessments, and students are required to SHOW ALL WORK when completing an assignment. Work WILL NOT be accepted if completed in pen or if no work is shown. Homework is given at the beginning of the week, usually Monday, and is not due until Friday. Weekly assessments will be given to monitor the students’ progress and understanding of the material.

Notebook: Students will need 2 composition notebooks for class, NOT SPIRAL. One notebook, will be used for note taking, classwork, and organizing graphic organizers. The 2nd notebook will used to complete the daily warm up assignment, summarizer, and writing prompts. This notebook will remain in the classroom. 

Late work: Late work will be accepted, however it will be assessed a late penalty. Homework that is not due until the end of the week will receive no higher than a 50.

Tutoring times: T, W, or Th after school from 4:15 – 5:00 upon teacher availability with prior approval/arrangement.

Academic Dishonesty: Will be dealt with on an individual basis
