We had so much fun “April Fooling” our students! Did you know the county has mandated that we do the Chicken Dance in the hallways? 🐔💃 And don’t forget about those very important… flood drills! 🌊😂

This morning, we kicked things off with a parade to cheer on our Olympians as they headed out to compete. The Special Olympics is all about inclusion, courage, and celebrating the abilities of every athlete—and we know our students represented our school with heart and determination.

Kindness Matters Monday! 💙
Today we’re celebrating a student who showed that kindness doesn’t have to be big to make a big impact. When another student in the hallway dropped their things, Kaiden stopped right away to help pick them up—even though he didn’t even know the student.

We are excited to share that we have 8 amazing 5th graders representing our school in this year’s County Honor Chorus! 🎶 They will spend the day this Saturday working with a professional conductor, learning and growing as musicians, before performing in a concert at 5:30 PM.
The concert will be held at Alexander High School, and it is free and open to the public—we would love to see you there supporting our students!

Beatrice and Savannah earned a spot in the Gold Category, placing them in the top 6 projects among all elementary schools in the entire county—what an incredible accomplishment! 🏆 They did a fantastic job presenting their project to the judges, and we are so proud of their hard work and dedication.

Mrs. Ochoa's class is diving into an important topic—pollution! 🌎💧
Students explored where pollution comes from, how it impacts our environment, and what we can do to help. During this hands-on lesson, they “polluted” a model pond using materials like paper scraps, plastic, styrofoam, coffee grounds (to represent runoff), and cocoa powder (to represent waste like sewage).
Before jumping in, students made predictions about which tools would work best to clean the water and whether it could be fully restored. As they worked to clean the pond, they quickly discovered just how challenging it is to remove pollution—especially certain types that require specialized tools.
This powerful activity helped students see firsthand why it’s so important to prevent pollution in the first place. Great thinking and teamwork, Mrs. Ochoa's class! 👏🌱
